One of the biggest misconceptions about chiropractic is that it’s solely about the neck, back, or spine. In reality, chiropractic is focused on the connection between the brain and the body’s neurology.
Your brain is the control centre for every process in your body—from complex movements, balance, and organ function to cellular metabolism and activation. Chiropractic care helps optimise this communication by promoting proper signalling between the brain and body, enabling you to function, heal, and thrive to your fullest potential—regardless of your current health status, prior injuries, or challenges.
While chiropractic is often associated with addressing back pain, neck pain, and headaches (with numerous studies supporting its effectiveness), chiropractic does not treat specific conditions. Instead, it supports the body’s natural ability to heal and function. This is why chiropractic care can benefit everyone—from newborns to the elderly, professional athletes to those living with neurological challenges.
Which is why we have created this little guide to you know exactly what to expect when you visit us
On your first visit you will be met by one of our exceptionally friendly CA (Chiropractic assistant) team. They will give you a tour of the clinic so you know where everything is and invite you to wait in the reception area.
Your clinician will then come to collect you and they will go through the form you filled out (emailed with your confirmation) and get to the nitty gritty of why you are here and what your health goals are.
They will go through a series of muscle and orthopedic tests to see how your body is currently functioning. These will form part of the benchmark which we use to track your progress through care as well as informing the creation of your care plan.
You will then be taken through to one of our Chiropractic Technicians (CT's) who will run through a series of objective scans and tests with you which completes the benchmark. The scans are not invasive, sensors are places down the spine to read muscle activity which gives your clinician a clear idea of how your spinal muscles are functioning. You will also complete some Range of Motion movements, have a posture analysis, check your weight distribution as well as o2 levels, blood pressure, grip strength and eye reflexes. All these things are vital in not only collecting benchmark data but to ensure that there isn't anything serious going on.
Before you come back in for your report of findings session (RoF for short) your clinician will be busy combing through all the information, data and scans to ensure that care with us is the right way for your to achieve your health goals and then create a care plan tailored to you.
When you come in, your clinician will explain your scans in detail along with the care plan to get you to your health goals. If you decide to take up care with us, you will have your first session then. If they deem that care is not appropriate for you, they will discuss that with you and support you in the next steps be that a referral within the clinic, a letter to your GP or an imaging request from the hospital.
Our aim is that nobody leaves feeling unsure about their health or how to achieve their goals.
If you decide to take up care, your regular sessions will be booked in at a time that works for you. You will be adjusted in our wonderful open plan space. This not only creates the community aspect of our vision but allows us to spend as much time with you as we need. Each session will consist of a series of checks and adjustments. Some sessions may look the same, others may be different because every session is tailored to what you and your body needs at that time.
As part of your on going care, you will have regular progress checks. You will have a full scan before a sit down with your clinician to discuss your progress and make any tweaks to your care plan to ensure you are on track to meet your goals.
Soft tissue therapy (massage) will either be done in 30 minute or 60 minute sessions. Your clinician will advise you on what is best for you during your report of findings. Your sessions will be in The Nest, our dedicated soft tissue therapy (massage) rooms which have been meticulously designed with healing and relaxation in mind.
